Biomes

A biome is a geographic area with distinct terrain and climate conditions from its neighbors. The following Biomes are present in the worlds of Desynced:

Plains

These grassy fields are the "standard" terrain which occupies much of the map.

  • Crystal Chunk deposits are common.
  • Metal Ore deposits spawn more rarely.
  • Silica sand can be found in small piles and by mining silicon trees.
  • Explorables in this area include:
    • Bot Ruins which yield valuable components and resources.
    • Human Ruins necessary for advancement down the Human tech path.

Desert

This arid wasteland borders the Plains.

  • Metal Ore deposits are common.
  • Laterite Ore spawns exclusively here.
  • Explorables in this area include:
    • Drop pods which yield small amounts of Metal and Aluminum ores and products.

Plateau

Towering above the neighboring terrain, the Plateaus are constantly beset by precipitation.

  • Silica Sand desposits are common.
  • Bugs make the Plateaus their home. Holes and Hives are common.
  • During Winter months any non-flying units move at half speed. Bug structures will also enter hibernation, becoming passive unless provoked with attacks.
  • Wind Turbine components will maximize their output in the Plateaus. (100 power for Medium, 400 power for Large)

Blight

Scattered across the landscape are areas of strong electromagnetic activity. The ground appears molten and a fluorescent haze obstructs visibility.

  • Within deep Blight terrain, units cannot target the ground or objects and buildings cannot be placed. Units forced by creative use of registers or behaviors to enter areas of deep Blight will suffer slow but constant damage.
  • The above effects can be neutralized by equipping units with a Blight Charger component. Completing the Blight Stability research will also nullify those effects for the faction.
  • Deposits of Blight Crystal Chunks spawn here, frequently at the outer areas where they can be safely harvested.
  • Deposits of Obsidian spawn exclusively within the inner regions.
  • Alien Explorables and Human Data Complexes can be found in deeper areas.
