Summary
The range of threats currently in Desynced is not that broad of scope. For some it can be a challenge but for others, merely a nuisance to be swept away for flooring space in their next factory expansion.
This article aims to go through a range of topics, but will by no means be an exhaustive list.
Life and Death
When you start a new game, you get placed into a faction and given one turret to defend yourself with. This is generally sufficient, but if for some reason you should lose all your Units/Buildings, you will be ejected from your faction. Death is not the end however, and you will be given an opportunity to be born anew in the same map under a different faction.
General Threats
Bugs, the virus and other players are all valid threats and each require a different approach to tackle.
Bugs
The smallest threat you will encounter is likely to be a Trilobyte. They leave their
Bug Holes when a nearby threat is detected, but have low damage and can be dispatched with a couple of hits with the most basic of weapons:
Small Turret.
On the plateaus, you will encounter Bug Hives, which are sometimes accompanied with
Bug Holes. The hives tend to spawn bigger bugs like the
Scale Worm, but over time and game progression, will also spawn serious threats like
Ravager,
Malika and its flying cousin,
Mothika.
The Virus
If you are unfortunate enough to stumble into an infected unit on the plateau, it is highly likely that you will contract the virus. This act typically unlocks the virus technology group, which will allow you to create a cure along side some very unique components.
The virus tends to be a serious nuisance as an infected unit will periodically shut down and the virus will spread to nearby units if not handled appropriately.
Note: The virus is known to be tweaked on occasion to adjust the severity. At one point in the game it dealt notable damage over time to infected units.
