| == That's a big tree! ==
| | Biomes |
| |
| This mission presents a generous (though not unlimited) source of Silica Sand in the early game. It begins when you locate a Super Silicon Tree. When close by, its coordinates will be revealed by an "Anomaly Detected" event.

| ===== Destroy the Tree =====
| | Explorables |
| |
| Upon reaching the Super Silicon Tree, ELAIN will brief you that it cannot be penetrated by mining components. You will instead need to fell it using weapons; even a Small Turret will suffice.

| ===== Disturbed the Hive! =====
| | --- |
| |
| When the Super Silicon Tree is brought to half health it will disgorge a large number of Trilobites (about sixteen). These should be cleared away before you can safely finish cutting down the tree.

| ===== Composition =====
| | Human Tank |
| |
| Destroying the Super Silicon Tree drops about 200 units of Silica Sand, separated into many piles around where the tree once stood. ELAIN also notes that the smaller trees can be mined for small amounts of Silica.

| == Silica Discovery ==
| | Human Lander |
| |
| This mission presents another source of Silica Sand. However, it requires substantially more investment into combat units to complete. It begins when you locate a Miner Base (Abandoned).
| | Human Warehouse |
| |
| ===== Disturbance Detected =====
| | Human Refinery |
| |
| ELAIN has detected traces of an abandoned facility surrounded by generous deposits of silica as well as the presence of Bugs.
| | Human Factory |

| ===== Large Bug Force =====
| | Multimodal AI Center |
| |
| There is a substantial Bug presence surrounding the mining center. You will need a well-equipped force of your own if you are to reclaim the facility. You will be assaulting a number of large Bug hives which will likely swarm you with Mothika and Ravagers. The more numerous and better equipped your forces, the greater your odds of coming out on top.
| | Blight Complex |
| |
| It may be possible to win the battle with Cubs, Medium Turrets and Portable Shields. It will be *far* easier when using later tech such as Hounds with Plasma Cannons and proper Shield Generators.
| | Human Spaceport |
| |
| Have a bot interact with the abandoned facility when you are certain the surrounding area is clear of Bugs.

| ===== Mining Base Repair =====
| | Human Rover |
| |
| Once the area is safe the Miner Base (Abandoned) will fall under the control of the player faction possessing this mission. It is a Repairable entity which demands 3 units each of Metal Bars, Metal Plates and Circuit Boards.

| |
| ===== Mining Base Repaired =====
| | Human Light Frame |
| |
| The abandoned facility is restored to a Building 2x2 (2M) equipped with a Wind Turbine and Laser Mining Tool. The building can now begin mining the adjacent Silica Sand deposit at your discretion; you need only a way to bring the sand to your home base.

| |
| This mission unlocks the Artificial Human Core, a component which adds Human tech functionality to the Re-simulator. It begins when you locate a Human Explorer (Broken). When close by, its coordinates will be revealed by a "Strange Signal Found" event.
| | Tank Turret |
| |
| ===== Power the Explorer =====
| | Heavy Rocket Launcher |
| |
| The Human Explorer (Broken) begins as a stationary entity located at the edge of a Blight biome. When selected it shows a Repairable gauge, demanding 10 units each of Metal Bars, Metal Plates and Crystal Chunks.
| | Miner Mech |
| |
| Once all items are delivered the Repairable will convert into a Human Explorer bot. It features one Internal socket and one Anomaly inventory slot. You may wish to shut down the Explorer when not in use if its 50 Power Usage is a liability.
| | Human Barracks |
| |
| ===== Take the Explorer to a Human Research Lab =====
| | Human Carrier |
| |
| You can find a Human Research Lab as part of any group of three or more Human Explorable structures. Use the Human Explorer to explore the Human Research Lab, revealing the Explorer "Connect" interaction. Click it to complete this step.
| | Infantry Mech |
| |
| ===== Gather 20 Anomaly Particles =====
| | Bunker |
| |
| The Human Explorer generates several Anomaly Particles when within 2 spaces of a Blight Crystal outcrop that is mined to exhaustion. Completing this step is much easier if your miner and Explorer are already equipped with Blight Shields, allowing you to focus on the most quickly depleted crystal sources.
| | Heavy Bunker |
| |
| Once your Explorer is full with 20 Anomaly Particles bring it back to a Human Research Lab and use the "Connect" interaction once more.
| | Human Science Lab |
| |
| ===== Deploy the Research Facility =====
| | Human Transport |
| |
| Connecting to the Human Lab reveals a new functionality within the Human Explorer: a fixed internal Deployer component, preloaded with an AI Research Center structure. Unpack the structure within your power grid. (You may need to deselect the Explorer for the Deployer to appear.)
| | Micro Reactor |
| |
| ===== Dense Anomaly Clusters =====
| |
| |
| The AI Research Center is ready to produce one Dense Anomaly Cluster from twenty Anomaly Particles. Ensure you have the power necessary to use the facility (250 base + 500 for production). Transfer the Particles from your Human Explorer to begin crafting.
| |
| |
| ===== Construct an AI Containment Component =====
| |
| |
| In order to safely utilize the Dense Anomaly Cluster you will need to contain it within a standalone Re-simulator Core. The recipe should now be available for production at an Assembler for 10 units each of Silica Sand and Blight Crystal Chunks. The AI Research Center can now combine the Core and Cluster into an Artificial Human Core.
| |
| |
| ===== Place the AI Core in the resimulator =====
| |
| |
| Install the Artificial Human Core into your Re-simulator to enable recipes that produce Human technologies such as the Human Flyer and Human Tank.
| |
| |
| == Anomaly Base ==
| |
| |
| This mission unlocks the Artificial Virus Core, a component which adds Virus tech functionality to the Re-simulator. It begins when you locate an Anomaly Robot Base. When close by, its coordinates will be revealed by an "Instability Warning" event.
| |
| |
| ===== Robots =====
| |
| |
| The Anomaly Robot base consists of 3-5 passive and small structures, one Command Center and an Anomaly Re-simulator. The Anomaly faction should start off passive but will become hostile if you attack them. Have a bot interact with the Re-simulator, as if visiting an Explorable, to complete this step.
| |
| |
| ===== Anomaly =====
| |
| |
| Your radar components can now set "Anomaly" as their target. This will return Anomaly faction units, such as a Curious Bot or Small Bot Glitch, within the radar's range. You will also obtain the recipe for an Internal Virus Containment, a component which has three Virus inventory slots.
| |
| |
| Produce an Internal Virus Containment to move to the next step.
| |
| |
| ===== Containment =====
| |
| |
| The objective is to procure a Virus Source Code. These can be obtained by using two modules, a Virus Cure and an Internal Virus Containment, in tandem.
| |
| |
| Locate a Small Bot Glitch and bring your own bot (with the Cure and Containment) within curing range. The glitched bot should be cured, resuming its original programming and returning to the anomalous bots' base, and one Virus Source Code should spawn inside the inventory of your Virus Containment component.
| |
| |
| Bring the Virus Source Code to the Anomaly Re-simulator. Your bot should begin displaying visual "glitch" effects for a few seconds, then teleport to a random point several hundred cells away.
| |
| |
| ===== Wormholes =====
| |
| |
| If your teleported unit is equipped with a Radar component you may be well served by finding additional glitched bots and gathering their Virus Source Codes. It will automatically warp back to the Anomaly Re-simulator in about ninety seconds. You can repeat the feat at any time, depositing one Virus Source Code to teleport that unit to a faraway place for a short time.
| |
| |
| ===== Limited edition =====
| |
| |
| You will need to build two final items at an Assembler. First is a Re-simulator Core, made with ten each of Silica Sand and Blight Crystal. The second combines that core with three Virus Source Code to produce the Artificial Virus Core.
| |
| |
| Install the Virus Core into your Re-simulator to complete the mission.
| |
| |
| == AI Base ==
| |
| |
| This mission unlocks the AI Core, an advanced version of the Behavior Controller component. It begins when you locate an AI controlled Robot base. When close by, its coordinates will be revealed by an "AI Signature Found" event.
| |
| |
| ===== AI =====
| |
| |
| You will first come upon a lone Command Center which possesses a Fabricator and some basic resources. Observe it for a while; it should be demonstrating the AI Controller's advanced behavior functions to refine its materials, produce an Assembler and begin rolling out Worker bots and Miner components.
| |
| |
| ===== AI Behaviors =====
| |
| |
| Once the Worker Miner begins returning resources the observation period should be complete. ELAIN will inform you of the ability to produce your own AI Cores at a Robotics Assembler. Be advised: AI Cores require materials beyond the first tier of Robot research.
